Reverend Tim Bird
This is the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time. Liturgy comes from the word leitourgia, a Greek word that originally meant public duty of any kind. In the Jewish usage, the word referred to temple services and as it is used in the Christian church, it refers to corporate worship. In the liturgy of the church, there are different seasons and the season we are in presently is that of Ordinary Time as opposed to Advent, Pentecost, Lent, etc. The seasonal colors of each of these various periods of time are seen as paraments that we use every Sunday. Ordinary Time is the longest period of time throughout the whole year. It is a time for spiritual growth and strengthening ones faith. As you look through the website, you will see how Glade Spring Presbyterian Church, or Old Glade as it is known, seeks to strengthen its faith through worship, fellowship and service. We hope that you will not only visit this website but also our church as well, especially if you are looking for a church in this area. We hope to see you!
Grace and Peace, Reverend Tim Bird
